When to Visit Montgomery, TX
From May through August, Montgomery suffers from triple digit temperatures and humidity that easily ranges into the 90s. If you have to head outside, be prepared to sweat, or dress as lightly as possible. Despite the stickiness and general discomfort from being outside, the heat doesn't keep tourists away, especially if you're heading out on the lake. While the water does provide a brief respite from the heat, it's still hot throughout the day. Hotels can be difficult to find if you don't book well in advance.
When you travel to Montgomery in the fall, the summer heat has somewhat dissipated, but there's still a fair amount of humidity. October, November, and some of December see temperatures between 60 and 80, making it comfortable to explore surrounding area. Showers can sneak in out of nowhere, so make sure to bring a raincoat. Also, if you decide to go to the forest, bring a jacket as temperatures can fall quite dramatically once the sun goes down.
To avoid crowds and heat, consider a trip to Montgomery during the spring. You won't have to bring a sweat towel everywhere you go, and the temperatures generally hover between 60 and 80 degrees. If you head to the nearby Sam Houston National Forest or the rolling hills to the west of the city, you're treated to lush, green hills and tons of amazing, blossoming wildflowers. Expect hotel room prices to drop during this time, or at least until city folk from Houston start to come up for weekends.
Montgomery enjoys a cool, albeit mild winter with temperatures ranging from 40 to 60 degrees. However, high humidity makes it feel much warmer than it actually is. You will probably need a coat throughout your stay during this time, but for most, it's better than sweating profusely. For an affordable vacation, there's no better time to book your hotel room.
