The Middletown center is approximately 3 miles northwest of Two River Theater and 3 miles northwest of Marine Park.
The average temperatures in the township vary dramatically among the four seasons. During the late spring and early fall months, the weather is more moderate with highs in the 60s and 70s Fahrenheit and lows in the 40s and 50s. During the winter season, the average low often drops below freezing. The area doesn't get significant amounts of snow, but it does receive an average of nearly 47 inches of rain per year.
Each year in April, the township hosts the Indian Trails 15K, a road race that attracts people from around the country. The race benefits the Monmouth Conservation and has been called “the most challenging race in the state” because of the steep hills included on the course. During this event, hotel prices tend to go up slightly as the demand for lodging increases. However, this event is one of the only major events that takes place in Middletown, and hotel rates stay fairly consistent throughout the year.

During a visit to Middletown, one of the most unique attractions is the “Evil Clown of Middletown,” a large sign on Route 35 that looks like a circus clown. When it was originally installed, the sign advertised a supermarket called Food Circus. Since then, it has become an advertisement for a liquor store and featured in magazines, on TV shows, and in popular films. Locals have fought against plans to demolish the sign over the years. For outdoor recreational opportunities, spend some time at Seven Presidents Oceanfront Park in Long Branch or Deep Cut Gardens.
