The Punta Gorda center point is approximately the area of Florida Adventure Museum and the area of Charlotte Regional Medical Center.
The best time to visit Punta Gorda and Florida's west coast in general is from March through the end of May. Spring provides comfortably hot temperatures that are suitable for outdoor adventures and festivals. Check out the Punta Gorda Spring Arts and Crafts Show, The Hibiscus Festival, the Muscle Car City Monthly Car Show, or the popular Spring Bash. Keep in mind that hotel rates tend to be high during spring, especially during key events, so plan your trip several weeks in advance to get the best deals.
Hurricane season runs from June to November, but don't let the threat of storms and elevated temperatures dissuade you from experiencing Punta Gorda in the summer. Check out the city's Annual 4th of July Celebration at Fisherman's Village. You'll also love the monthly Alive After Five event in downtown, which is held every third Thursday of the month and features live musicians, food trucks, artist demos, and other forms of entertainment.
Temperatures fluctuate between the low 50s and high 70s during Punta Gorda's winter months. While it may be too chilly for a dip in the Gulf, you can still take a cruise on Charlotte Harbor. Fun trolley tours start operating in January and only run until April due to the excessive summer heat, so there's plenty to experience. If you're here in November or December, be sure to visit the Festival of Lights in Fisherman's Village.
