The Zanesville center is about the area of Muskingum County Commissioners and the area of Muskingum County Convention.
Tourist season in Zanesville peaks during the summer months thanks to the balmy weather and abundance of street festivals and other events. However, hotel prices skyrocket during this season, so you'll pay a premium for each night you stay. You'll also have to face crowded streets and entertainment venues, so prepare for long waits in some places and packed restaurants.
Winters serve as the low season, attracting very few tourists because of the extremely low temperature and abundance of snowfall. Since it's not a ski town, and there aren't any other winter sports to captivate travelers, you might want to avoid Zanesville between November and February. However, if you're hoping to take a vacation on a budget, these months offer the best hotel prices, and the city looks beautiful when it's covered in a fresh layer of snow.
The shoulder seasons offer the best of both worlds. In spring and fall, you get great hotel prices, comfortable weather, and low tourist activity. Spring tends to bring more rain to the Zanesville area, so pack an umbrella if you visit between March and May, but otherwise you should have a blast.
To make your Zanesville vacation a little easier on your wallet, consider looking for discounts before you book your hotel room. At the Comfort Inn Zanesville, for instance, you can cut your hotel bill by as much as 10 percent if you're a card-carrying AAA member. Other hotels, such as the Fairfield Inn Zanesville and the Super 8 Zanesville, offer discounts for senior citizens and military personnel.
Some hotels offer package deals that can help you save money. For instance, a spa package allows you to get pampered throughout your stay, and you'll pay less for your hotel room and the spa services than you would separately. Alternatively, book well in advance or with a large group to get other discounts.
If you're looking for the best value in this city, consider booking your room at the trendy and comfortable Fairfield Inn Zanesville. It offers many of the amenities that you'll find at the higher-end hotels, such as a heated indoor pool and a free hot breakfast, but the price is a little more budget friendly. You get free high-speed wireless internet access in your room and throughout the hotel, and your guest room comes equipped with a microwave, refrigerator, and coffeemaker.
The Spring Air mattresses and extra pillows help you stay comfortable throughout the night. You can choose from combinations of king and queen beds, depending on your preferences, and feel free to schedule a wake-up call if you want to get out of bed and hit the road for some sightseeing. The contemporary decor and floor-to-ceiling windows add even more luxury to this hotel, and you'll love the ergonomic desk chair if you have to get some work done while you're in town.
Several public green spaces exist in Zanesville and nearby towns. If you feel like breathing fresh air, searching for birds, or getting some exercise, you won't be disappointed. The parks are particularly beautiful during the summer and spring thanks to the abundant foliage and the presence of local fauna.
The largest park is Dillon State Park, which sits on several hundred acres. It's technically located in nearby Nashport, which is only 20 minutes from Zanesville. Here, you can play tennis or basketball, take long walks along nature trails, barbecue or have a picnic, and let the kids run loose on the playground.
You'll also find gorgeous nature trails at Collegial Woods Park, which doesn't offer as many features as Dillon, but provides a more calming, quiet atmosphere. The footpaths are fairly flat, so they're perfectly designed for people who prefer low-impact exercise.
If you're looking for a more challenging hike, visit Blue Rock State Park. It's a rugged destination that doesn't offer much in the way of creature comforts. However, you can trek up the hills on several trails or cast your line in the lake to catch bluegill, bass, and catfish.
Zanesville isn't the most popular vacation destination in Ohio, but don't overlook it. There's plenty to love about this diverse city, and you'll enjoy a rejuvenating trip no matter how you spend your time. Select the perfect hotel for you and your family, then start planning that itinerary.
