One of the most notable landmarks in Granbury is the Hood County Courthouse, built in 1891 and continues to serve as the center of local government. Visitors can learn more about the town's history at the Hood County Museum, which is located in the old county jail. During its operation, deputies resided in the living spaces on the ground floor. The second level consists of three chambers: the gallows, the solitary cell (utilized for women and mentally unstable individuals), and the primary cell. Within the main cell lies a detached iron "cage" designed to house 2 cells, each containing up to 4 beds. Additionally, the museum displays various artifacts and keepsakes that represent Hood County's history. But Granbury isn't just a town stuck in the past – it's a prosperous community with some modern amenities and attractions. For outdoor enthusiasts, there're plenty of hiking, biking, and water sports opportunities. Lake Granbury is a popular spot for boating, fishing, and kayaking, and the Brazos River offers some of the best tubings in Texas. In the evenings, the historic square comes alive with music and entertainment, and guests will surely find something to suit their tastes. From Texas-style barbecue to upscale dining, Granbury's restaurant scene has something for everyone.
