The Mystic center point is about the area of Naperville Amtrak Station and the area of Mystic Seaport Museum Store.
The best time to visit Mystic is in the fall, particularly in September and October. The fall foliage is at its peak, drawing thousands of tourists to see the natural beauty of the town. The weather is much more pleasant than during the hot and humid summer, with temperatures around the 60s. Hotel rates have dropped some from the busy summer season, making it more affordable to vacation. During the second week in September, the Mystic Ears Food Festival takes place. Sample local vendors' food and drink, and listen to live music while having a drink in the beer tent.
Spring is also an enjoyable time to visit, particularly in April and May. The weather is slowly warming up and getting the town out of its winter freeze, and local events increase in number. Foodies will love the Mystic Food Truck Rally, which takes place at the end of May. Over 30 local food trucks participate to give guests a taste of the region, accompanied by drinks and live music. Local flowers are blooming during this season and hotel prices are still fairly low due to the anticipation of the very busy tourist season come summer.
Staying at hotel is nice, but staying at one that gives you a discount is even better. At the Days Inn Mystic, AAA members will enjoy a 10% discount off their hotel rate. Pets are allowed, making this a great hotel to stop at for those on an East Coast road trip. A seasonal outdoor pool is available for cooling off during those hot summer months. Complimentary breakfast is provided every morning, as well as free wireless internet access. The hotel is nearby the beach, and is also close to the Mystic Seaport and Mystic Aquarium.
At the Quality Inn Mystic, the hotel honors active members of the military by giving them a 10% discount with proof of ID. Each air-conditioned guest room comes with a free newspaper to have in-room coffee with each morning, and cable programming is available for entertainment when guests aren't out exploring the town. A 24-hour fitness facility is conveniently available in addition to an outdoor seasonal pool for those with a crazy schedule who want to fit in a workout. A buffet breakfast, complete with an assortment of cereal, muffins, and juice is complimentary each morning.
For the best value for your money, book a stay at the Hilton Mystic. It's located near the Mystic Seaport, Mystic Aquarium, and Denison Homestead. Each air-conditioned room comes with a pillow top bed and free wireless internet access. Gift shops are available for any purchases you need to make, as well as a newsstand to pick up some last minute reading. A casino is nearby and offers a complimentary shuttle to try your luck at gambling. Afterwards, grab a tasty dinner and a glass of wine at the hotel's restaurant and lounge.
Another option is the Hampton Inn & Suites Mystic. Each guest room comes with a signature Serta Cloud 9 mattress for the ultimate comfort. Every room also has a 42" flat panel television and high speed and wireless internet access. There's a 24-hour "Suite Shop" available for late night snacks. The hotel offers a state-of-the-art fitness facility and a heated, indoor saltwater swimming pool. There are many activities around, with the Mohegan Sun Casino and Foxwoods Resort Casinos both a short drive from the hotel and the Mystic Seaport only two miles away.
The town of Mystic is a fun place to come year-round. Summer brings many events and the chance to sit outdoors at the local restaurants. Take a walk along the water to soak in the beautiful views. Spring and fall are the best times to visit, as the tourists aren't as frequent and the weather is more moderate. Hotel rooms are also offered at lower rates. Summer is more expensive and the weather can get quite hot, but is still a fun time to visit and get homemade ice cream from one of the locals shops.
Mystic is a great place to book a vacation by the sea. Seafood lovers will love the variety of fresh, local fish available in all the restaurants. Tourists can spend days exploring the town's history as a seaport and discovering all the museums with antiques from years past. Hotels are available for those on a budget as well as those who want a more comfortable stay. There are lodging options available for everyone no matter what kind of vacation they're looking for - after all, enjoying a fun vacation and discovering the area should be the main focus of the trip.

Mystic is quaint, especially old Mystic. Shops in Old Mystic have items you would not find in most places. A good place to eat is Steak Loft. I am not a steak eater but I found the steak to be very good. Prices are reasonable. Mystic Diner is really good as well. I loved walking around Mystic Seaport.

Love the old downtown area…excellent dining and shopping.
The shops and bars in the center of town give you enough variety where there is something for everybody and it's small enough where you could spend a full day and feel like it's just enough
