As a standard for Canada, Pembroke gets very, very cold during the winter months. If you aren't used to freezing temperatures, this probably isn't the best time to visit. Of course, if you are someone who enjoys a winter wonderland, then you will find plenty to love about Pembroke in the December to March period. Just be aware that during this period, temperatures are unlikely to rise above freezing level.
It isn't just the low temperatures that you have to be careful of either. The snowfall during the winter months is no joke, with snow depth reaching an average of 16.6 inches during March. Most of the snow falls during December, which makes Pembroke an ideal place for a white Christmas. Around February, the snowfall begins to tail off. However, visitors will still have to contend with the snow that has piled up over the winter.
By contrast, during the summer months, Pembroke is rather warm. Daily high temperatures average in the 80s for most of July. But, even at its warmest, the average temperatures in Pembroke rarely exceed 70.

However, despite being a chain hotel, the Holiday Inn Express in Pembroke manages to carve out an identity of its own. The interior design is elegant and modern; it wouldn't look out of place in a much more upmarket establishment. The hotel has an eco-friendly policy, so if you are looking to do your bit for the environment, staying at the Holiday Inn is worth considering.
The Petawawa River Inn has 18 rooms spread over 3 floors. It is one of the smaller hotels in Pembroke, but it is also one of the best value options you will find in the city.
