The Smyrna center point is approximately 3 miles south of Smyrna Airport and 6 miles west of Richard Siegel Park.
Rainfall in Smyrna peaks around the middle of May, so consider avoiding this month if you're interested in outdoor adventures. Later in the summer, you'll enjoy excellent weather with a little chance of precipitation, but summer also serves as this town's main tourist season. You might face more crowds when you want to visit the Sam Davis House and other local attractions, and hotel prices increase because of the tourist influx.
You might enjoy your trip to Smyrna most during the fall. Temperatures range from 50s overnight to the mid-70s during the day, so you'll get a break from the heat. Bring a few layers so you can keep warm if the temperature plummets, but expect little rain and abundant sunshine. Spring can offer similar temperatures, but you'll encounter a higher chance of rain.
During winter, this town gets a little chilly and the sun often stays hidden behind banks of clouds. While hotel prices drop during this season, many outdoor attractions and events become unavailable, and you don't want to sell your vacation short.
If you book a room at one of Smyrna's chain restaurants, you can take advantage of loyalty rewards, which allow you to shave a few dollars off your bill once you accumulate enough. Venues like the Hilton Garden Inn Nashville/Smyrna also offer discounts for senior citizens, AAA members, and people who have served in the U.S. military.
When you're looking for abundant amenities coupled with reasonable rates, you can't go wrong with the Hilton Garden Inn Nashville/Smyrna. It's a modern choice with elegant decor, comfortable rooms, and generously proportioned guest rooms. The indoor pool is one of the largest in the area, and you can play a round of miniature golf on site. Plus, you'll have access to an ATM, gift shop, coin laundry machines, safe deposit box, and exercise center. If touring Smyrna wears you out during the day, order room service in the evening.
You won't want to discount the Candlewood Suites Smyrna - Nashville, either, if you're looking for value. This hotel combines luxury and affordability in unique ways, supplying beautifully appointed guest rooms with leather recliners, L-shaped desks that double as dinette tables, and pillowtop mattresses under premium linens. If you get hungry or thirsty, visit the on-site convenience store and pantry, then work off those calories at the gym.
There are 11 parks within Smyrna's city limits, so you won't have to worry about finding green spaces to explore. You'll find about 12 miles of trails between all the parks, but don't forget your camera and binoculars so you can fully enjoy the local flora and fauna. Some parks also include playground equipment for the kids, sporting facilities, and picnic areas, so try them all.
If you visit in spring or summer, take the kids to the Gregory Mill Park Splash Pad. Water rains down on kids (and adults) from colorful pipes and artificial waterfalls, but it's a safe place to cool off because the platform doesn't hold water. To find more outdoorsy adventures, visit one of the nearby lakes. You can fish, go boating, or just hike along the shore to enjoy beautiful vistas.
Alternatively, take a walk around downtown Smyrna. Stop in some of the unique stores along the way or stick to window shopping. Whatever the case, you'll see great architecture and meet friendly locals.
While Smyrna doesn't get as much press as Nashville, it's a lovely place to spend a few days on vacation or business. Choose one of the hotels recommended above and start putting together your itinerary.
