The Owings Mills center point is about the area of Baltimore Ravens Complex and 7 miles west of Cal Ripken Experience Center.
Summer is Baltimore's peak tourist season, and Owings Mills experiences an influx of crowds from June through August. Despite this fact, summer is the best time to visit Charm City with its lively festivals, including Hon Fest, the Baltimore Pride Festival, the Baltimore Farmers' Market & Bazaar, and the Maryland State Fair. Keep in mind, though, that with the heavy crowds comes hiked hotel rates, so book your room well in advance if you want to save.
Temperatures start to cool off in September, resulting in chilly lows through fall. As temperatures drop, so do hotel rates, giving travelers the perfect opportunity to save money on a trip to Baltimore. Just be sure to pack a few extra layers of clothing and be prepared to take refuge in one of the area's indoor attractions if the weather turns cold. Key events during the fall include the Baltimore Book Festival, Baltimore Beer Week, and the Festival of Trees.
If you're really pinching your pennies, plan a trip to Owings Mills in the winter; just be sure to bring a heavy coat. Temperatures in the Baltimore area dip below 30 degrees in the winter, but all major attractions are crowd-free, which can make for a pleasant sightseeing experience. You may also be able to attend the Mayor's Christmas Parade, the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade, or the American Craft Council Retail Show.
Spring ushers in mild weather, which is ideal for strolling outdoors. The area's prime event season doesn't kick off until late May, so if you book your vacation before then, you should enjoy deep discounts on your hotel. While the Baltimore metro area hasn't kicked into full swing by early spring, you can still enjoy events such as the Charm City Folk & Bluegrass Festival and Lunch with the Elephants.
If you know where to look, you can save even more money during your stay in Owings Mills by taking advantage of discounts. Most area hotels, including the refined Hyatt Place Baltimore/Owings Mills, extend special rates to seniors, AARP members, AAA or CAA members, military personnel, state and federal government employees, corporate travelers, and rewards card members. The discount varies by property, but booking the applicable rate and providing proof of eligibility at check-in can often save you as much as 20 percent off the best available rates.
More upscale properties, such as Sonesta ES Suites Columbia Baltimore, offer unique vacation packages that can give you more perks. Romance and attraction packages often come with tickets to area attractions, dinner vouchers, sparkling wine, or other amenities you won't get anywhere else. And at many properties, the longer you stay, the greater your discount.
