If you visit between May and September, you're going to run into temps that reach the high 80s and low 90s on a regular basis. It's hot, humid, and just not fun to try and relax during this time. You want to head here in October at the earliest. Want to avoid the spring break crowds? Head down in February when temps are starting to get near 80 degrees most days and there's plenty of sunshine. March and April is prime spring break season and you may not want to deal with the crowds. Try to go at times before and after these months to get the best possible experience.

Another living museum is the Burroughs Home and Gardens. It was built in 1901 and is the last surviving home of its kind that's still in its original location. This Georgian Revival mansion has been beautifully preserved both inside and out. Visitors can go on a tour of the home and gardens as well as have a lunch inside the mansion.
