The best time to visit Elkton if you want to comfortably experience the area's many lakes, rivers, and parks is from late April to late June. It can still get warm during this time, with highs occasionally climbing into the high 70s and 80s. Average temperatures are moderate during this period, however, and you'll miss the much hotter mid- and late-summer months. This will also help you avoid the peak influx of tourists through the area, which starts in July. Most travelers are just passing through heading north to New York or south to one of the East Coast's beaches.
Fall is an excellent time to visit the region as well. Though the weather will start getting cooler, you'll avoid the frigid temperatures of winter. This is an ideal time of year to explore the Maryland and Delaware countryside, which comes to life with brilliant colors as the leaves change for the season.
