The University of Nevada Reno is the state's flagship land-grant institution and has been in existence for more than 125 years. In fact, the University of Nevada Reno was the only state-supported college until the year 1957. Today, it has more than 16,000 students enrolled and operates on two campuses.The University of Nevada Reno offers bachelor's degrees in more than 75 disciplines and there are over 100 graduate degree programs available. The University of Nevada Medical School is a big part of the school and has centers in both Reno and in Las Vegas. Some of the newest concentrations available at the University of Nevada Reno include wildlife ecology, environmental science, and atmospheric sciences, among others.Demographically speaking, about two-thirds of the students come from northern Nevada, while another 13 percent come from the Las Vegas area. However, there are also students from all around the country and internationally, representing all 50 states and 39 countries.
