Summers are definitely the most popular time to visit Dallas, Grand Prairie, and Fort Worth. Even so, summers in Texas are hot, with temperatures averaging in the mid-90s, but easily reaching well over 100 degrees. Add to that the fact that crowds increase in the summer due to school breaks, and it's clear that the best times of year to visit Grand Prairie, and all of Texas really, are spring and fall. Spring and fall highs sit between 60 and 80 degrees, depending on the month you choose to visit. This can make daytime very comfortable if you choose to spend it outside at sporting events and exploring the city.
If you're not planning on attending one of the Dallas Cowboys football games, it's best to avoid the area when there's a home game during the fall, because many of the hotels fill up and room rates rise accordingly. Though Grand Prairie is not Dallas, the airport is actually closer to Grand Prairie, and the city is only about 6 miles from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, making it a convenient location for football fans to stay.
