The Newbury Boston, located in the city's Back Bay, is currently undergoing a transformative renovation and restoration. Originally opened in 1927, this iconic Boston landmark will reopen in late 2020. The property will be re-imagined with a thoughtful new floor plan, dramatic public spaces, 285 redesigned guestrooms (including 90 suites), stunning event spaces and new food and beverage experiences, including a rooftop restaurant and the restoration of the beloved Street Bar. Residential in feel, each of The Newbury's 285 guest rooms and suites will incorporate a calming color palette and tactile materials. Rooms will be appointed with hand-selected, richly textured furnishings and original artwork, along with amenities exclusively curated for guests. The Newbury Boston will offer 16,000 square feet of dramatic and flexible event space which will be beautifully renovated and updated with modern functionality, providing an ideal setting for meetings and celebrations overlooking The Public Garden. In addition to the event space, the new food and beverage experience includes the restoration of The Street Bar and the addition of a Library Lounge, available exclusively to hotel guests. The seasonal rooftop space will be converted into a year-round restaurant, operated by Major Food Group, a leading hospitality and restaurant company.
Green sustainability
The Newbury Boston boasts 12 apiaries which in 2017 collected over 300lbs of honey. This honey is used on site for desserts, cocktails and everything in between. Managed by local company Best Bees, the hives and the honey are apart of an ongoing study regarding success of urban beekeeping. Additionally we are are listed as a Tripadvisor Green Leader: Platinum level. What this means is our hotel at a minimum does all the following: •Having linen and towel re-use plans•Tracking energy usage on a regular basis•Comprehensive Recycling - composting & reusing •Using energy efficient light-bulbs•Educating staff and guests on green practices•Properly treat waste water (either using an on-site or municipal sewage system) EarthCheck Gold certified and have maintained this achievement 6 years in a row.
