The New Braunfels center point is around the area of Downtown New Braunfels and the area of New Braunfels Museum of Art.
Although most people don't flock to Texas during the summer, the cold-spring rivers are refreshing against the Texas heat. The heat and humidity in Texas can be overwhelming for some tourists even with a dip in the river, so you may want to stay away from New Braunfels if you don't like to be hot. The spring and fall are beautiful in this part of Texas, so if you're planning a trip and want perfect weather, your chances are best during this time.
If you're headed to New Braunfels during the late fall, then make sure you time it right to attend one of the German-inspired festivals. Late fall and winter are not prohibitive in this area because the winters tend to be pretty mild. Although you won't be sunbathing or tubing down the river, you can enjoy the sightseeing in New Braunfels during the mild winters. Prices for hotels and flights also tend to be more affordable during the winter, so if you're concerned about your budget, it's the right time to go.

The official tagline of Wurstfest is “A Ten Day Salute to Sausage,” and for good reason. This German inspired festival optimizes the blend of German influences in this Texas town. Located on the Comal River, visitors can enjoy carnival rides, German and Texan beer options, and entertainment options that honor the German heritage.
Of course there will be plenty of sausage to try, but what is a good festival without beer? Part of the festival includes a Craft Beer Festival. You can taste over 80 different craft beers while enjoying the food trucks and the live entertainment. The city is wholly transformed during this fun and exciting celebration, and there are very few festivals in the area that come close to comparing.
While many people think that the only major cities in the area worth visiting are Austin and San Antonio, those people are missing out on a fun and fascinating city that is completely different from what you would expect in this part of Texas. Whether you head to New Braunfels in the summer to enjoy the river, or you go specifically for the festival, there is plenty to do and see all year in this German-inspired Texas town.
Established in 1845, the city is part of both Guadalupe and Cornal counties. Hotels in New Braunfels capitalize on the historical district that lies within city limits. Among the main attractions are live music performances at Gruene Hall and dining facilities within the original gristmill ruins. The summer season brings in many tourists attracted by the Coldspring Rivers running throughout the city. Wurstfest is a popular sausage festival with strong German heritage connections. Tubing along the Cornal and Quadalupe rivers are popular with students and returning families.

Many attractions to visit in nearby New Braunfels.
New Braunfels was great👍
We had awesome food & drinks at the Oyster Bar on Seguin St. The Elk's Lodge where the party we attended was held was great. The AC was perfect. Very friendly personnel who were very helpful. We attended another venue named the Freiheit that also had live country music whose music & ambience we thoroughly enjoyed.
Old Town was nice!
We enjoyed Krause beer garden.
Everything was a very short drive.
We had three rooms and spent the day at Schlitterbahn.
Sorry. We were there such a short time that I formed no real sense of the city. We did enjoy our drive out into the countryside to the charming chapel wedding site, adjoining a large pasture inhabited by a few horses and a pair of extremely long-horned Texas long-horns!
It was close to restaurants and shopping centers.
My daughter had her wedding in NB and it was absolutely beautiful. The scenery is gorgeous.
Quaint.
We love that the hotel is so close to Gruene and only a short drive away. We always take an Uber to Gruene for the concert and for dinner at one of the delicious local restaurants.
We were there for the Texas Clay Festival in Gruene but we spent some time in New Braunfels as well and will be back. Surprisingly excellent restaurants like MacAdoos and the Gruene Door made it a really special trip and I recommend both. Lots to do, lots to see, memories to be made.
The hotel location was good for guests.
New Braunfels has always been a magical little town! The Comal is amazing and the people are so accommodating to all of the tourists. I wish the restaurants stayed open a little later than 10 because by dark it's already 9 and you don't realize what time it is after a full day of activities!
Nice town
The town is friendly and has plenty to offer for entertainment and dining. We were here for a wedding at the Dry Comal Creek Vineyard on Hwy 46. Beautiful location, excellent service and ambiance, great wine.
Greune Hall has shops and food and partying. The whole area around it is awesome. It would take all day of walking and shopping and enjoying these shops. I'm from houston and I go to American Cookie Company in the mall. There's a free standing ACC also!
