The Gatlinburg - Pigeon Forge center is around 2 miles northeast of Dollywood Theme Park & Splash Country and 2 miles southeast of Fort Sanders Sevier Medical Center.
Because Gatlinburg is such a small town that's seen a considerable tourism boom, tourists sometimes threaten to overwhelm the area. That means if you're visiting during peak season, you'll want to book as far in advance as you can or you'll risk being unable to find somewhere to stay. Visiting in peak season means you'll face lots of crowds, so if that's not your thing, avoid the busy season.
Gatlinburg's low season spans January and February. For the rest of the year, tourists swarm the area, but the lower temperatures and snow tend to chase off visitors in winter, even though the average temperature is around 50 degrees.
Dollywood and Pigeon Forge are extremely busy in the summer. If summer is the only time you can visit, go midweek, since you'll find fewer crowds. Dollywood is closed from January until mid-March, so if the park is one of your main reasons for visiting this area, winter won't be your season.

The endless attractions in Gatlinburg so many things to do along with outstanding restaurants!
So many things to do!!
Love the shows, exciting things to do. Good food and scenery was beautiful. Love the. Mountains this time of year.
All of the entertainment in the area was great. Lots to do.
We visited Lookout Mountain and rode the Incline Mountain Railway. Most of the Senior Citizens had never been on such a thing and the view was great. Rock City as wonderful but the steps were a bit much for some of the Seniors but the ones who could walked it all. Everyone like what they ordered at the Rock City Grill. I can't remember the exact name. We then went to Gatlinburg and rode the tram and enjoyed the view. Some visited the zoo and I rode the Sky Mountain coaster, wonderful. One Senior in her late 70's after 3 tries got on the tram and when she got back down had the biggest smile and said I can't believe I did it! The Craftsman fair was next and what a treat, we needed more there. Then on to the Dixie Stampede which is a must see. We also ate at the Wood Grill Buffet in Pigeon Forge, all I can say about that was unbelievable! The amount and varity of food was almost overwhelming. It was all delicious and the service was excellent. Our room was ready with plates and silver ware at each place. Drinks were always full We had to come later than our scheduled time but they were OK with that. I actually believe they stayed open late because we were still there, we were the only ones there eating. I can't thank them enough. Wood Grill Buffet is a must also. It is an attraction in itself! There is much more to see in the Gatlinburg Pigeon Forge area that our group wants to come back. I know my husband and myself will be back.
There's so many things for all age groups to see and do in pigeon forge and Gatlinburg.

Pigeon Forge just opened The Island which had some stores open but should be fully operational by Spring 2014. They are starting to build this up. Will always love Gatlinburg.
