The Moline center point is around the area of John Deere Pavilion and the area of TaxSlayer Center.
The best time to visit Moline is during the summer between May and August, when the city comes alive with activities and offers warm temperatures and little rain. During this season, head down to the waterfront, which has fountains to keep the kids cool on the hottest days and riverboat rides to explore the area and see the city in a picturesque setting. However, hotels tend to fill up quickly during this time because of the many events and festivals, so booking ahead is strongly encouraged.
If you're looking to shake off the doldrums of winter, spring is an excellent time to visit Moline. The city is well-known for some of the most beautiful gardens on the banks of the Mississippi, as well as a world-class botanical garden. Temperatures are cool, yet comfortable, but with everything in bloom, there's no chance that you'll miss the opportunity to get out and explore. Demand for hotels slips during this time, so you shouldn't have much trouble finding a room.
From September through November, Moline enjoys brisk, cool weather, but with a sweater, it's easy to handle, even for its northern geographic location. At this point in the year, the trees start to change to beautiful orange, yellow, red, and auburn hues, providing an excellent spot for leaf peeping. It's also the height of the food festival scene, with vendors from around the region hocking their produce, culinary delights, and microbrewed beers. Hotel rooms are in high demand on certain weekends, so check to see what's happening before you book.
Winter can get downright chilly in Moline, with temperatures staying below freezing from December through February. However, there's still plenty to do. Head to the bluffs to do some skiing or snowboarding, walk through town to enjoy Christmas lights, or check out the famous Festival of Trees. In addition, you can go down to the river for some of the best bald eagle watching in the country. Even with all these great activities, the demand for hotels drops during winter, leaving you with plenty of choices at prices you'll love.
If you're looking for a deal on a room, many hotels offer discounts depending on your affiliation and membership in certain groups and organizations. Country Inn & Suites by Carlson is just one of those places, providing cut-rate room prices for government and military personnel, AAA members, and seniors. It's located on the southern outskirts of Moline, providing less noise and commotion, but it doesn't skimp on the extras. Guests can enjoy free breakfast, an indoor pool, fitness facilities, and even a library. In-room amenities include free Wi-Fi, a refrigerator, and a microwave.
Another option for bargain hunters is the Residence Inn Marriott. This Art Deco-style hotel offers discounts to both AAA members and seniors, with a further discount added for stays of five nights or more. It's near the Deere Company World Headquarters, Niabi Zoo, and the Celebration River Cruise Dock, making it convenient to access each attraction. You can take a dip at the indoor pool, get a workout in at their fitness center, or soothe your muscles in the spa tub. There's also a guest reception on select dates where you can eat, drink, and mingle with other guests.
If you're looking for a mid-range option, it's never too far away in Moline. Best Western Airport Inn is particularly convenient for business travelers, as it's equidistant from both the airport and downtown's top destinations. It's also an excellent choice if you're in town for a soccer, softball, or baseball tournament, just a two-minute drive from the Green Valley Sports Complex. Each room comes with a 32-inch LCD television, refrigerator, microwave, free Wi-Fi, and free local calls. There's also a fitness facility, indoor pool, and a free breakfast to get fueled for the day.
For a value hotel that's near the airport, check out Fairfield Inn by Marriott. Despite its proximity to the airport, no flights go overhead, so you can always rest easy without waking. Express check-in and check-out services allow you to get to the airport or a meeting in haste. If you have a moment to relax, you'll enjoy an indoor pool, snack bar/deli, free breakfast, and a 32-inch flat-screen television with cable programming and local channels.
No matter where you're staying in Moline, you're only a short jaunt to some of the top attractions in Moline and the Quad Cities. Just near the banks of the Mississippi River, the John Deere Pavilion is a surprisingly fun attraction, even for those who aren't necessarily enthralled by tractors or agriculture. Exhibits and state-of-the-art tractor simulators provide an interactive experience, while events such as a tractor parade provide even more fun.
Located adjacent to the John Deere Pavilion, Bass Street Landing Plaza is an awesome place to convene during the summer. From May through the end of summer, Bass Street Landing is home to a summer concert series, featuring some of the top local and regional talent. During winter, it transforms into an open-air ice rink, perfect for skaters of all levels.
Voted the number one minor league market in America by SportsBusiness Journal, Moline boasts the Quad City Mallards, a minor league affiliate of the NHL's Minnesota Wild.
