Attracting more than 2.5 million visitors annually, Taste of Chicago is the second largest tourist attraction in Illinois. Established in 1980, the festival which is held in early July, is essentially Chicago's Independence Day Festival. The free admission festival features the cuisine of approximately 60 local restaurants and gourmet cooking seminars. Grant Park, on Chicago's downtown lakefront, hosts the annual festival.
