Established in 1974 by Bill and Stella Pence, Tom Luddy and James Card, the Telluride Film Festival has a history of discovering new and important filmmakers because of its tradition on showing solely North American premieres. Located in Telluride, CO, the festival features three tributes devoted to the film industry. One typically honors a historical film figure, the second focuses on an important contemporary Hollywood figure, while the third is devoted to something or someone obscure or misunderstood.
