The Inside Scoop by our Local Expert
Located on the southern part of Oregon, Crater Lake is well known for its deep blue color and for being the deepest lake in the United States. It is also the main attraction for over half a million visitors to Crater Lake National Park year-round. The most ideal and closest hotel to stay in nearby would be the Crater Lake Inn & Retreat, a smaller, but charming property with cozy bedrooms, a free healthy morning breakfast, and barbecue grills. Other hotels outside of Crater Lake would be in the city of Klamath Falls, a further driving distance, but has more lodging accommodations such as the Shiloh Inn & Suites Klamath Falls, the Holiday Inn Express in Klamath Falls, the Best Western Olympic Inn, and the Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham in Klamath Falls. The best time to visit Crater Lake is during the summer months as all of the facilities, roads, and trails are open as it snows heavily during the fall, winter, and springtime.
