Chicago Midway Airport is located 10 miles from downtown Chicago and serves over 17 million travelers each year, making it one of the fastest growing airports in the U.S. Downtown Chicago is easily accessible from the airport via Chicago Transit Authority, which gets you there in just under 30 minutes. An hourly shuttle that runs between O'Hare International and Midway from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. also is an option. Chicago Midway has many gift and news shops as well as a variety of restaurants, cafes, and an extensive business center for those who like to take advantage of time in between flights. For those who want to spend time admiring historical sights without leaving the airport, the Battle of Midway Memorial is in Concourse A—there even is an SBD Dauntless dive bomber suspended from the ceiling! A multitude of car rental services are available and the many hotels in the area serve a variety of tastes and budgets. The Chicago Midway Airport is host to such major airlines as American Airlines, Continental Airlines, and Southwest Airlines. A recent expansion of the airport included the addition of new baggage claim areas, ticket counters and a terminal-concourse bridge.
