CONSOL Energy Center is a state of the art arena that is capable of accommodating over 18,000 hockey fans. It has over 1,950 club seats and 236 box seats, all of which are some of the most comfortable seating arrangements of any NHL arena. It also has two LED rings that encircle the seating basin and give fans a 360-degree view of all the action on the ice. The facility also has over eight hundred high-definition televisions, multiple concession stands, food court, brew pub and a public bar. This arena also has a NHL Penguins store that covers an area of 4,000 square feet and provides all the essentials that a Pittsburgh Penguin fan needs.
The CONSOL Energy Center is nestled in between a number of fascinating Pittsburgh attractions. One of the more prominent of these attractions is the Phipps Conservatory Botanical Gardens. This intricate complex of grounds and buildings was founded in the late nineteenth century and is situated in Schenley Park. This complex has earned a silver-certification in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, and contains a number of fascinating gardens containing exotic plants and flowers.
Another fascinating attraction located near the CONSOL Energy Center is the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium. This zoo is situated in Highland Park and covers an area of seventy-seven acres. In it's exhibits are over 4,000 animals taken from almost 500 different species. Some of the animals that can be found in its exhibits include: gray kangaroos, reindeer, California sea lions, wild turkey and copperhead rattlesnakes. This zoo also contains a 100,000 gallon tank that features a variety of different sharks, coral and fish.
Other attractions that can be found near the CONSOL Energy Center include the Andy Warhol Museum , the Stephen Foster Memorial, Carnegie Museum of Art, Nationality Classrooms at the University of Pittsburgh, Frick Art Historical Center, Carnegie Museum of Natural History, Kennywood Amusement Park, Heinz Regional History Center Sports Hall of Fame, Children's Museum of Pittsburgh, and the Soldiers Sailors Museum. It is also in close proximity to PNC Park, a baseball field that is home to the Pittsburgh Pirates. CONSOL Energy Center has four distinct entry points. There is the American Eagle Gate-located at Washington Pl Fifth Ave., the Verizon Gate Upper Entrance-located at Centre Avenue, the Trib Total Media Gate Entrance and the private entrance for suite ticket holder accessible by the parking garage. All entrances to the CONSOL Energy Center are certified accessible under the American Disability Act.
