The area was completely redeveloped from its original state and now features several urban-style neighborhoods that were designed to give citizens a reason to come to the downtown area. Aside from its gorgeous landscapes and quaint features, the downtown area is filled with excellent dining venues, unparalleled shopping and a wide variety of entertainment.Once a sleepy community, this lovely coastal town is filled with Spanish architecture and delightful features. In the mid-1920s, the community was transformed by well-known architect Addison Mizner. Named after him, Mizner Park was developed as a residential, commercial, and cultural center. The beautifully landscaped grounds are dotted with a variety of dining venues, shopping and entertainment. The neighborhood is also home to an amphitheater that draws many free concerts throughout the year.Another large change to the area was the renovation of Palmetto Park Road. Once strictly for vehicles, the road has been converted into a pedestrian-friendly area. Upon visiting today, you'll find tree-lined sidewalks, a lively promenade and a variety of citizens simply enjoying the area.
