Also known as Solomons Island, Solomons is a popular weekend destination for residents of the region. It was originally known as Bourne's Island in 1680 and Somervell's Island in 1740, but its current name comes from 19th-century businessman Isaac Solomon who built a cannery in the area. The 19th century also saw shipyard development to support the community's fishing endeavors, which helped grow the population. It also played a major part in training troops for World War II.
Today, Solomons features several gift shops, marinas, seafood restaurants, historic attractions, a sculpture garden, and a boardwalk, making it the ideal choice for a getaway. Whatever your reasons for visiting Solomons, Maryland, you want to find the right hotel that allows you to experience everything this beautiful community has to offer.
