Because Sulphur is located near the shores of the upper Gulf of Mexico, expect a lot of humidity during the summer months when the monsoon season arrives. However, summer is when families have time off, and they love to take the kids to the water park, hike the various trails in the nearby parks and wetlands, and enjoy the oldest fair in Louisiana which celebrates the cultures of the various Parishes surrounding Sulphur. Summer is the high season in Sulphur, so make sure and book your rooms far in advance to ensure you secure a room.
Winters are rainy and chilly, but nearby Lake Charles has many festivals and events to attend which bring visitors to the area. Because the weather is cooler, winter months are a great time to go fishing, enjoy the Creole Nature Adventure Trail, and indulge in authentic Creole and Cajun cuisine. Room rates are lower and easy to reserve in the winter, however, Christmas is a busy time so book your room early if you plan on being there over the Christmas holidays.
Spring and fall are ideal for fishing on the bayous, rivers, and lakes. Rooms are easier to find, rates are lower, and the weather is divine. Consider booking your vacation to Sulphur, Louisiana, during the spring and fall months.
