The Federal Way center point is approximately the area of Downtown Federal Way and 1 mile north of Rhododendron Botanical Garden.
If you want to enjoy the most outdoor fun, visit in late spring or during the summer. Autumn and winter prove extremely chilly in this part of the world, and abundant rainfall can hinder your experience. You might pay more for your lodging when you visit in spring and summer, but you'll have more fun and make fonder memories.
You'll find cheap hotel rooms during the winter months — and you'll never encounter a no-vacancy sign — but winters are frigid and, for many travelers, miserable. If you're not used to ice, snow, and sub-freezing temperatures, steer clear until the snow melts and plan a more enjoyable vacation.
You can score healthy discounts on Federal Way hotels if you know where to look. For instance, venues like the Courtyard by Marriott Seattle Federal Way and the Best Western Plus Evergreen Inn & Suites will discount your rooms by as much as 15 percent if you can produce a current AAA membership identification card. Similarly, you can lower your hotel bill at Comfort Inn Federal Way Seattle if you're over age 55, thanks to the senior citizen discount.
Many Federal Way hotels offer a healthy balance between luxury and value. The Red Lion Inn & Suites Federal Way, for instance, is the perfect lodging for families with kids. The indoor pool features colorful water slides that twist and turn from the raised ceiling, which can make splashing around even more fun. You'll get a complimentary breakfast every morning with a wide selection of cereals, pastries, and fresh fruit, and there's an on-site convenience store that's well-stocked with beverages, snacks, and assorted other products.
There's a 24-hour business center at this hotel as well as a jogging trail if you want to maintain your exercise regimen. You can pick up a daily newspaper at the front desk and enjoy complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the venue. Plus, free coffee and tea are available in the lobby 24 hours a day, so you'll never have to go without your caffeine fix. In your room, you'll get modern furnishings and linens, gorgeous views of the surrounding scenery, a flat-screen television, and a spacious private bath.
The Clarion Hotel Federal Way - Seattle is another high-value hotel option in Federal Way. Rooms at this establishment are minimalist and sleek with plenty of room to stretch out. The flat-screen TVs come with cable service and Pay-Per-View, and you get an in-room microwave, refrigerator, and coffee maker. For even more upscale accommodations, upgrade to the king Jacuzzi suite to enjoy a whirlpool in your room. This suite also comes with a reading chair and ottoman. Alternatively, if you're traveling with a large family, choose the double queen room, which also comes with an extra sleeper sofa and provided linens. In the bathroom, you'll find upscale toiletries and a spacious shower-tub combination.
When you want to let your hair down for a night of fun in and around Federal Way, start at Jersey's Sports Bar. It's the perfect local haunt if you're searching for a laid-back venue with a large selection of beer and delicious cocktails. You can also grab a snack to keep the party going, whether you're in the mood for burgers, fries, and other standard bar fare. Of course, it's a haven for Seahawks fans, so keep that in mind when you're rooting for teams on the big-screen TVs.
For live music, you won't want to miss the Brick Yard Pub. It's known for excellent prices, which aren't always guaranteed in Northeast establishments, as well as for its moody, cozy atmosphere. Plus, this venue serves a full menu, which includes prime rib, grilled shrimp, and other high-end options.
Federal Way might not have the clout that Seattle enjoys, but it's the perfect vacation destination if you want to avoid crowds and enjoy some peace and quiet. Of course, if you feel the need for more excitement, hop in your rental car and head north.
