The Fairfax center point is about the area of Ratcliffe Allison House and Pozer Garden and 1 mile northeast of George Mason University.
When you visit Fairfax, Virginia, keep in mind how close it is to Washington DC. Though traffic can make the commute seem long, the two cities aren't many miles away from each other, so any seasonal jumps in price in the nation's capital are going to affect Fairfax, too.
As far as the weather goes, rain in this area of the country is steady year-round; the averages don't fluctuate much from month to month. You can always expect about three inches of rain, no matter which month you choose for your visit. Winters are mild, with highs in the 40s, and summers aren't unbearable. If you can handle a visit farther south, then the high 80s that the Fairfax area experiences will be a breeze for any traveler.
That being said, fall and spring are generally the best times to visit Fairfax, though the lowest hotel rates will happen during winter. Tourism is lower in the fall than in the spring, but the number of events that happen in this area of the country mean that hotel rates can fluctuate even during low season. If you want to avoid an extremely expensive hotel rate, don't come during the National Cherry Blossom Festival or during summer, when the kids are out of school.
