When is the best time to travel to Holland, MI?

Deciding on a good time to visit Holland depends on what you're interested in experiencing while you're in the area. If you'd like to check out the variety of outdoor activities available, you'll want to plan your stay for the summer months. From June to August, Holland experiences average high temperatures in the upper 70s and low 80s Fahrenheit. These temperatures provide great weather to enjoy water sports on Lake Macatawa or go for a hike in Holland State Park. However, since summer is a popular time to visit, expect to pay more money for your hotel room.

As summer comes to an end in Holland, visitors will slowly trickle away and the temperatures begin to drop. If you visit in September, you can still enjoy mild temperatures in the mid-70s. However, by October, average highs are in the low 60s, and by November, they're in the upper 40s. Although the chilly weather may make you think twice about a trip to Holland in the fall, the changing leaf colors offer some beautiful scenery, and you can usually find some good deals as hotels start lowering prices for the off-season.

If you're interested in the best prices of the season, plan to visit Holland between December and February. Keep in mind that Michigan is known for its cold winters, and Holland is no exception. These winter months typically see average highs in the low to mid-30s, and the area receives an average of 76 inches of snowfall a year. If you don't mind bundling up to explore the area, you'll find a number of winter sports opportunities and great deals on hotel prices.

Although spring takes some time arriving in Holland, it's a lovely season to experience. Average highs in March are in the mid-40s, and by May, these temperatures have climbed into the upper 60s. If you're thinking about traveling to the area in May, you'll want to know that the city's annual Tulip Time Festival occurs during this month. About 1 million people come to celebrate the festival, which makes it one of the largest town festivals in the country. The influx of guests can also make finding any hotel rooms during this time difficult.
