When is the best time to visit Ann Arbor, MI?
With a climate that varies greatly because of its proximity to the Great Lakes, deciding on the best time to visit Ann Arbor depends entirely on what you want to do while you're visiting. Summer is by far the most popular time to visit the city. Average high temperatures from June to August are in the upper 70s and low 80s Fahrenheit. This weather makes summer a comfortable time of year to get outside and enjoy the parks and various festivals. However, since plenty of people travel to Ann Arbor during this season, you may not be able to find an abundance of deals on hotels.
Fall starts out comfortable in Ann Arbor, with average highs in September in the mid-70s. By October, these highs drop into the low 60s, and by November, highs are in the upper 40s. If you don't mind dealing with the cooler temperatures and the possibility of a few snowflakes in late fall, this period is a good time of year to find some hotel deals.
The best time of year to find the lowest hotel prices is winter. However, keep in mind that to take advantage of these savings, you'll have to contend with some cold weather. Average highs from December to February are in the 30s, and the area usually sees between 8 and 16 inches of snowfall a month. If you're interested in exploring some of the winter sports opportunities, winter is the perfect time to come for a visit. Plus, most of the indoor attractions are still open during this season.
As spring arrives in Ann Arbor, you'll start to see more pleasant temperatures. March starts off with average highs in the mid-40s, and by May, these highs are in the low 70s. These temperatures make this shoulder season a nice time to plan a trip. Remember that commencement ceremonies at the University of Michigan occur in May, so you may find getting a good deal on a hotel room around that time difficult.

Lots of restaurants, which is typical of most college towns. People were very friendly, and I noticed drivers handed money to people down on their luck which gave me a great impression of the city. One and only thing we didn't like was the strange system for making left turns! (go past the place you want to turn left about 30 yards then make a u turn and go left?
