Not our first visit to the Dunhill but always a favorite of mine that I've recommended many times. Had tickets to Lion King for my wife's birthday which we invited our son and daughter in law to join us; decided to go all out and have supper at the Capital Grill just up the street and stay over at the Dunhill which is convenient to both the Belk Theater and Capital Grill. Our stay was a nice touch for a special treat; rooms as always very clean and comfortable, valet service as always very prompt and courteous, bar well stocked and bartender very knowledgeable of his craft and finally the brunch at the Ashbury was delicious! Something that we will do again!

Because of weather we missed our connecting flight home. The room was adequate and clean. Staff was helpful (I was able to get a toothbrush and toothpaste) and a robe was on the clothes rack which helped since our luggage was at the airport.

Everything from the front desk to the room service was excellent. The only problem is the late nights on the streets w cars racing, boom boxes, and people yelling @ each other on the street till two 3am. Hard to sleep.

The historic Charlotte Dunhill Hotel in Uptown, originally opened as the Mayfair Manor in 1929, is one of North Carolina's members of Historic Hotels of America and one of its first luxury establishments. Designed by architect Louis Asbury, Sr., the Historic Dunhill opened in Charlotte in 1929 as the fashionable Mayfair Manor apartment hotel. Half of the original 100 rooms were rented by permanent tenants and it thrived even during the Great Depression. Upon its completion, its singular architecture and powering presence added immeasurably to the city's skyline. Fully restored, the ten-story hotel is a landmark in the arts community and cultural district. Its refined architecture with neo-classical embellishments adds character and a distinctive shape to the Uptown skyline. The lobby and guest rooms feature elegant 18th-century European furnishings, hand-sewn draperies and original works of art. The penthouse retains its original marble floor with double balconies offering panoramic views of Charlotte. Today, the elegant Dunhill Hotel is one of Charlotte's few remaining historic landmarks of that distinctive period in history.
