We had 4 grandchildren to go to Sanford. So we visited there a lot. It's very scenic and it has a great aquarium.
Enjoyed the visit to Birmingham Southern University and the ride through Oak Mountain State Park.

We were just three miles from Alabama Adventure and 18 miles to the downtown area where you could go to the Civil Rights Institute, Kelly Ingram Park, 16th Street Baptist Church and McWane Science Center. The hotel is 23 miles from the Birmingham Zoo.
The Soiree Event Center was beyond what I expected and shopping at the Galleria was great.
Homewood is a nice area.
