The Chalmette center point is about 1 mile northeast of Chalmette National Cemetery and 4 miles east of Oakwood Mall.
Below are reviews of the city of Chalmette, LA from an actual visitor's perspective.
Chalmette is convenient to the French Quarter, but away from the hubbub. The Chalmette Battlefield Park (War of 1812) is nearby and very worthwhile. If your timing is right there are at least 2 parades (Mardis Gras) and St Patrick's Day that start practically right in front of the hotel. Nonna Randazzo's bakery which makes the best King Cakes and many other baked treats is a short drive.
Show it is a great place to stay. There are so many things to do. Great fishing, great boating, plenty of wildlife! This is also where they fought the battle in New Orleans by the river! The restaurants are fabulous and fresh seafood food is at all the local restaurants. Everyone's favorite is Rocky and Carlos. If you had to Arabi, which is next-door to Shaw that you can go walk on the Levee next to the river.
It's chalmette.
