The Red Lion Hotel Portland Convention Center is a great, affordable option for groups in the Lloyd District (a short drive or MAX light rail ride away from downtown Portland). They offer cozy, no-frills accommodations at a fair price, and have one of the best summertime meeting spaces in Portland - Their "Windows Skyroom & Terrace" features fantastic views on all sides (especially of the convention center) and a large outdoor deck that is perfect for organized receptions or just a happy hour drink. The rooms (as well as the common areas) are simple but nice, and the staff is very friendly and accommodating to groups. Their location in Lloyd Center puts them only 3 blocks away from the Rose Garden Arena and the Memorial Coliseum, and near many restaurants, shops, and galleries. In general, this hotel is a good value, and a good alternative for groups wanting to avoid Downtown Portland prices while still having a nice location.
