The Buford center point is approximately the area of Downtown Buford and 6 miles northeast of Suwanee Sports Academy.
The best season to visit Buford is also the city's busiest. Atlanta features a number of summer events and outdoor festivals that make it the perfect time of year to book a room in Buford, but keep in mind that summers in Georgia can be sweltering. Average highs are in the upper 80s and the climate is humid all summer long, which can make visits unbearable for anyone not used to the heat. Hotel rates also tend to spike during the summer months as more visitors flock to the Atlanta area for vacation.
If you'd prefer to beat the heat and the crowds, plan your trip in the springtime from April to early May. Temperatures are generally pleasant, but thunderstorms are common, so bring an umbrella and be prepared for storms. Spring also brings a number of nearby festivals to the Buford area, including the popular Atlanta Dogwood Festival.
Fall is another great time to visit Buford. From September to November, temperatures range from the mid-60s to the low-80s. Hotel rates remain about the same as they are in the summer, but the cooler weather is worth waiting for.
To enjoy the best discounts on hotel rates, plan your trip to Buford from December to March, avoiding holiday weeks. While Georgia normally doesn't experience much snow, average lows can hover around 30 degrees, and ice storms are quite common. Still, if you pack accordingly and prepare for the worst, you'll enjoy the best hotel rates and avoid tourist crowds.
If you plan your trip in advance, you can take advantage of discounts that help you save even more on your trip to Buford. Many area hotels, including Choice Hotels, which includes Buford's Quality Inn, provides discounts to seniors, AARP members, AAA members, government employees, and military personnel. If you qualify, you can take advantage of these special rates and save up to 20 percent off the hotel's best available rates.
Most hotel chains also have reward programs that allow you to accumulate points during your travels. If you're already a member and have earned enough points, you may be able to enjoy a free night or two during your trip to Buford.
Most area hotels also offer their own unique discounts and special promotions, which tend to change throughout the year. Fairfield Inn & Suites Atlanta Buford/Mall of Georgia, for instance, frequently offers last-minute weekend deals and other travel packages. While last-minute deals are great when you're having to plan an unexpected trip, it's generally a better idea to book your room in advance.
Buford offers a variety of mid-range hotels that provide you with exceptional value for the money. Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Buford is a laidback hotel one mile from the Mall of Georgia. Atlanta is known for its world-renowned cuisine, but Buford boasts its own culinary delights that are worth the visit. Rico's World Kitchen on Main Street may look like a garage from the outside, but inside you'll find some of the best comfort food around. From fried green tomatoes and crab cakes to shrimp po'boys and strawberry salads, Rico's offers a little something for everyone.
If you're in the mood for pizza and drinks, head to Parma Tavern. This rustic joint serves up an eclectic offering of Italian-inspired dishes, often with a little live music or karaoke on the side. The restaurant's pizza dough is even made with toasted flax and local honey, giving it a unique, authentic flavor that can't be beat.
When only fine dining will do, make a reservation at Sperata. Boasting a taste of Europe in downtown Buford, this classic restaurant features a delectable five-course meal with the option of a wine pairing, making it the perfect romantic evening out.
Exploring Buford is a tall order, but you'd be surprised to learn how much this city has to offer. Whether you're looking for an upscale accommodation near Atlanta or a budget-friendly hotel close to Buford's major attractions, you can find the perfect hotel to meet your needs and budget.
