Hyatt Centric is the most sustainable hotel to be built in the south of the UK and prides itself on its eco credentials.
The hotel offers 150 guest rooms, 24-hour room service and Hyatt's unique E-Concierge online adventure planner. With bikes to hire and taxis on standby, you can be adventure ready in minutes. When you return from a hard day of memory making, there's a drink with your name on it up in our cosy cocktail bar with outdoor terrace.
Green Sustainability
North West Cambridge, Eddington project represents the largest capital development the university has undertaken in its 800-year history. The robust brief was to address connectivity, community, character and climate, while being mindful of the UNESCO-listed town centre and unique university setting.
The development will be an exemplar of sustainable living. The hotel is BREEAM Excellent. The scheme is the single largest Code for Sustainable Homes Level 5 development in the country. The site also makes use of water management, energy and waste systems, and a green travel plan encouraging residents and neighbours to lead sustainable lives through the built infrastructure as well as through community-building activities.
Eddington has developed a pioneering rainwater management strategy to capture and treat stormwater runoff from the site, using an integrated network of sustainable drainage systems (SuDS). Naturally filtered water is then stored and redistributed to homes to flush toilets and water gardens. This is the first stormwater recycling scheme in the UK and one of the largest in the world. Other key initiatives include an innovative waste collection system and a site-wide district heating network powered by a centralised low-carbon combined heat and power system. The hotel has been designed to replicate all of these methods.

80% of the hotel’s roof space occupies solar panels to assist with the energy used by the hotel and any left over fed back to the Grid. The district heating network which provides higher efficiencies and better pollution control.
The Courtyard - Eco-garden, is based on a global approach to the garden favouring the application of cultural methods and the use of alternative or biocontrol solutions, as well as using the rainwater management strategy adopted throughout Eddington.
Additional sustainable attributes are; LED lighting & motion sensors, 20 Electric car charging points, 20 guest bicycles to hire from the hotel, electric scooters and bikes available within Eddington and an Electric Shuttle Bus to key sites in the City e.g. Train Station.
Our Food and Beverage partners will use locally sourced, meat free options as well as vegan. Ethical and environmentally conscious methods. And a vast majority of materials we use are either recyclable, biodegradable, compostable or recycled. They will also take part in the Cambridge Sustainable Food – Local food waste scheme.
