The Concord center is about the area of Barber Scotia College and 1 mile southeast of Life Christian University.
Concord is known for NASCAR is home of the Charlotte Motor Speedway. Although a small rural area outside of Charlotte, NC, there is a lot offered beginning with Concord Mills Outlet Mall, Cabarras Arena and Events Center, plenty of shopping, dining options and wineries within driving distance. Three NASCAR races are held each year at the track, and tours are provided on a daily basis. Located only 20 minutes north of Charlotte and 15 minutes from the North Carolina Transportation Museum. Concord Regional Airport also has daily flights from most operating city airports.
The weather in Concord is fairly temperate in the winter, with lows around 29 degrees F and highs reaching about 50 degrees F. Summers in North Carolina are hot and humid with highs averaging 88 in July and August but sometimes reaching over 100 degrees F. In spite of this, the most visitors come to the state during this time of year, driving up the price of hotel rooms. The best time of year to visit is during the shoulder seasons of spring and fall when temperatures reach the mid-60s and 70s during the day and dip to about 40 at night.
Concord is known for its rainfall, but the months of April and May are the driest, making this a great time to visit. The high temperatures are in the low to mid-70s, so it's warm but not too hot, and you can enjoy the outdoors. Rainfall in summer is heavy but less frequent than winter. If you want to avoid premium hotel prices, don't go during NASCAR race weekends at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. If that's the purpose of your visit, reserving your room months in advance can save you money.
If you're looking for discounts, consider the Residence Inn Marriott Concord. Seniors can save 20 percent while AAA members save 15 percent. Not only that, but you can enjoy the many amenities of this three-star hotel. All rooms are suites with fully equipped kitchens and sitting areas with a pull-out sofa. If you're staying on a Monday through Wednesday night, head to The Mix in the evening for snacks, drinks, and food. The Bistro, located on-site, offers choices for breakfast and dinner along with Starbucks coffee. You don't have to miss out on your workout routine during your stay, because the exercise room and the tennis and sports courts are there for you. No matter the conditions outside, a dip in the indoor pool is always inviting or just relax in the hot tub to melt away your stress.
Another Marriott hotel, the Springhill Suites by Marriott Charlotte Concord Mills/Speedway, also provides great discounts — around 15 percent for seniors and 10 percent for AAA members. This is an all-suites hotel, and each room has a mini-refrigerator, microwave, and pull-out sofa. Enjoy the complimentary breakfast each morning that includes oatmeal, eggs, sausage, cereal, coffee, and fruit, a great deal if you're traveling on a budget. Take a dip in the indoor pool no matter the time of year or soak in the spa tub to unwind.
If you're looking for a discount at one of the more affordable hotels in the area, try America's Best Value Inn. Both AAA members and seniors save 10 percent off the regular room rate. As a two-star hotel, your stay includes a free breakfast in the morning with grab-and-go options if you're in a hurry. Every room has free Wi-Fi along with cable channels that include HBO. Pets up to 25 lbs are welcome for an extra daily charge.
If you're looking for spacious rooms, consider the Courtyard Charlotte Concord and choose either a guest room with a king or two queen beds or a suite with two rooms and a king bed. The on-site snack bar provides breakfast choices in the morning and dinner options, including beer and wine, at night. Don't forget to grab a Starbucks coffee before heading out for the day. The indoor pool, whirlpool, and fitness center give you the chance to get moving during your stay. Grab a complimentary towel and jump in!
The price at the Hampton Inn Concord/Kannapolis is less than most of the hotels surrounding it, yet it's not lacking in amenities. Every morning, you'll find a free hot breakfast that includes waffles, juice, and coffee, or pick up an On the Run breakfast if you don't have time to eat. All rooms include free Wi-Fi, adding to your room's value. This makes it easy to connect, whether you need to get work done or just want to surf the Internet. Other conveniences include a coin-operated laundry, laundry/valet service, and a fitness room, and you can't beat the location.
Though there are many reasons to visit Concord, the best is to experience NASCAR up close and personal. At the Charlotte Motor Speedway, just minutes from Concord hotels, you'll find NASCAR events throughout the year. With three tracks — a dirt track, smaller raceway, and 1.5-mile speedway — you can choose from a variety of races. Buy your tickets early, so you don't miss out on great seats inside the speedway.
Parking is free and there are free trams to shuttle you to the entrances. You can bring your own cooler, but it must be less than 14 inches with no glass containers. It's very loud, so bring ear plugs or noise canceling headphones. There is a lot to do before the race, especially if you're bringing the kids along, so plan to get to the speedway early.
The experience doesn't end at the track. Head to the NASCAR Racing Experience where you can drive real race cars and feel the thrill of being a true driver. If that's not enough, in Charlotte, just 20 miles away, is the NASCAR Hall of Fame. Here you can learn how NASCAR teams prepare for races, watch a race at the High Octane Theater, and get the perfect souvenirs for any die-hard fan at the gift shop.
