The Inside Scoop by our Local Expert
Situated in Key West, Florida, Mallory Square is located at the northern end of Duval Street, overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. There's plenty to do here, thanks to places such as the Shell Warehouse, Sponge Market, and several Cuban restaurants. While visiting Mallory Square, tourists may also want to make a visit to the Key West Aquarium, the Key West Shipwreck Historeum and Museum, or the Key West Historical Memorial Sculpture Garden.A popular hotspot for tourists—especially those disembarking at the docks—Mallory Square also plays host to the "Sunset Celebration." Occurring every night, the Sunset Celebration is a gathering to watch the sun set on the Gulf of Mexico. But the festivities don't end there as plenty of street performers, food carts, arts and crafts exhibitors, and psychics set-up shop along the square and provide entertainment and diversions to the tourists and residents who gather. Certain performers—such as Will Soto the juggling tightrope walker, the Great Rondini who performs "magical" escapes, the Jeep and Mo family variety show, Dr. Juice the Calypso tumbler, and Dale the Sword Swallower—have even become regular staples of the Sunset Celebration.
