Anyone travelling by train should go three minutes by bus to the stop “Spaldingstrasse” ,right by the Hyperion Hotel Hamburg. It takes 25 minutes by taxi from Hamburg Airport (13 km away) to the hotel. There are a number of attractions to visit nearby - for example you can walk around ten minutes to the Deichtorhallen. The Deichtorhallen complex is one of the biggest exhibition areas for contemporary art and photography in Europe. The two historic buildings with their open steel glass architecture were built between 1911 and 1913 as market halls and then converted. Today they provide the setting for major international exhibitions.Spectacular views of the city, harbour and surrounding area open up from the 106 metre high platform at “St. Michaelis” cathedral. The “Michel”, as the locals affectionately call it, is one of Hamburg's most impressive buildings, and has a turbulent history behind it. It was built three times and completely destroyed twice between 1647 and 1912.
