Welcome to Boise
As the capital and most populated city in Idaho, Boise is the cultural and business center of the state. In fact, with its booming creative scene, thriving tech economy and the growing Boise State University, the city was ranked as the "No. 1 Region On the Rise" by Time Magazine in 2014. Those traveling to Boise on business might find it useful to know that the city's economy is bolstered by megagrocer Albertsons, the multinational Micron Technology and the agribusiness giant J.R. Simplot.
Geographically, the Boise City-Nampa metropolitan area consists of five counties with the state's three largest cities: Boise, Nampa and Meridian. Furthermore, Boise is the third-most populated metropolitan area in the Pacific Northwest, behind Seattle and Portland.
Wondering what to pack? Temperatures peak in the 90s during the summer and drop to the 20s come the winter months. A jacket, hat and mittens are definitely recommended during this time of year. To get around Boise, you'll want to know the ValleyRide public bus system, which has about 22 routes through the major tourist areas and to the airport. If you want transportation that revolves around your clock, a rental car might be in your best interest.
