What you need to know
Hotel Features – This historic hotel was built in the 1630’s, although a recent renovation ensures that the property is comfortable and contemporary. Dutch artist Piet Mondrian lived and painted in the Hotel Atlanta from 1904 to 1907. When making their reservations, fans of the artist should request room 33, the Mondrian room, which was his rented living and studio space. Throughout the hotel, artwork by the famous artist is proudly displayed.
Location – With a prime location at Rembrandtsplein, the Hotel Atlanta is steps away from dance clubs, museums, galleries, cinemas, theatres, restaurants, bars, shopping, and of course, Amsterdam’s celebrated canals. Amsterdam’s rich history dates back to the mid-17th century, to the town’s financial and cultural “Golden Age.” At this time, when Rembrandt was still living and working, the town expanded rapidly. Although it is still a small city with about 750,000 residents, there are 160 canals, 1,200 bridges, and nearly 6,800 landmark buildings therein. There is never an excuse for boredom during a visit to this colorful European city, and Hotel Atlanta guests enjoy easy access to these and numerous other cultural, historic, and recreational opportunities.
Perks & Amenities – Seven different floor plans, from standard single rooms to twin grand deluxe rooms, are available at the family-run Hotel Atlanta. Some rooms feature Jacuzzis. All include wired or wireless Internet access at no charge, cable TV, hair dryers, mini-bars, in-room safes, telephones, and private bathrooms. Most of the hotel’s 36 guest rooms also offer great views of Amsterdam, and rates as low as 35 Euros per night.
Expert Tip – A great time to visit Amsterdam is on Queen’s Day, April 30, when the streets are filled with people, and the canals are buzzing with activity. If you’re a warm weather traveler, you’ll want to visit in summer months, as temperatures begin to drop as early as October.
