Ground-breaking ceremonies took place on June 28, 2001, and the ballpark was officially topped off on August 12 of the same year. In June 2003, Citizens Bank signed a 25-year, $95-million deal for naming rights and advertising on publications, telecasts and radio broadcasts made within the facility.
