The Winnipeg center is about the area of Canwest Place and the area of Shaw Park.

Winnipeg is a gorgeous Canadian city known for its intriguing architecture and green spaces. The city has lots of concerts and festivals as a result. The historic site known as "the Forks" sits where two rivers intersect. In other parts of the city, old warehouses have been transformed into business space and feature shops and restaurants. This Manitoba city also has a district full of early 20th-century architecture. Called "The Exchange," this district features lots of galleries and is fun to walk through. To make the most of your Winnipeg visit, stop by the Assiniboine Park and Zoo, The Forks, and the Canadian Museum of Human Rights. More from this guide...

The Humphry Inn & Suites is also downtown and is about five minutes away on foot from the Canadian Museum for Human Rights. Mornings are perfect with a trip to the fitness center and a free breakfast. Then, use the complimentary Wi-Fi to plan your day. Don't forget a visit to the indoor pool and steam room.

Winnipeg is a beautiful city worth visiting at any time of year. Canadians certainly know how to make the most of winter, but you should visit during the season you feel most comfortable being outside, so you can explore all of the city's outdoor spaces. With the perfect hotel waiting for you at the end of each night, your Winnipeg trip might just be the best one you take all year.

Burton Cummings the musician once said, "You could live in Winnipeg a thousand years and not meet Ringo, Paul McCartney, or Bob Dylan."

The large Canadian city and capital of Manitoba has a great location at the junction of Assiniboine and Red rivers. The aboriginals used the area for trading activities before French settlers arrived and established a port in the 18th century. Hotels in Winnipeg attract visitors to the many festivals and sporting events organized through a well-set transportation and railway hub. Trading along the red River increased, and with measures taken to prevent floods in the flat valley, the city has developed into a diversified economic base with great interest in preserving cultural heritage and promoting the performing arts.

I have been in Winnipeg on many trips but this trip was all business. This trip, I liked that there seemed to be a shopping area close to where we stayed. We could pick up last minute supplies for the conference easily. I got turned around on my way to a food store and when I asked a person from Winnipeg, they got in their car and said follow me. Wow, now that is friendly! In the past, I have enjoyed the Mint and other attractions. This trip many of our group got to the Human Rights Museum but that will be next trip for me.

Breathtakingly beautiful, pretty easy to get around with a good map and/or GPS, if you got twisted up, you didn't go miles out of your way due to limited access highways that some larger cities have. So much to see and do, I only missed a few things on my list. The zoo, the Mint and the Human Rights Museum were probably my favorites. Out of 7 days, there was a bit of a sprinkle one day, otherwise the weather was perfect for sightseeing. Free shuttle bus downtown was a nice plus.
