The Inside Scoop by our Local Expert
Perhaps one of the most well-known outdoor Las Vegas, Nevada attractions, the Fountains of Bellagio is also free. Located right outside the Bellagio Hotel & Casino on an eight-acre lake, the Fountains of Bellagio combines water, music, and light in a complex choreographed water show. The stunning shows run every half hour during the day and every 15 minutes between 8 p.m. and midnight. Guests of all ages come to watch the fountains dance to some of their favorite tunes specially chosen for the Fountains like “Singin' in the Rain,” “Luck Be A Lady,” and “Fly Me to the Moon.”
Steve Wynn, the chairman of Mirage Resorts, commissioned WET Design for the Fountains, and the project began in the summer of 1995. The result, the Fountains of Bellagio, is the most ambitious aquatic feature ever conceived. The Fountains of Bellagio features 4,000 individually programmed white lights to accompany the 1,000 different water expressions choreographed to the various musical arrangements they accompany. The Fountains of Bellagio became a movie star in a memorable scene in Steven Soderbergh's 2001 film Ocean's 11.
