Poole has been likened to St Tropez and is probably best know for its beautiful natural harbour and coastline.Poole Harbour is one of the world's largest natural harbours and its extensive waters provide a magnificent haven for recreational sailing and water sports. Cross channel ferry passengers can enjoy the fastest sea crossing in the Western channel.Poole boasts 5 miles of award winning beaches and in 2001 achieved the Jurassic Coast Award as recognition for a place of outstanding universal value.Poole is renowned for its upbeat bars & restaurants, luxury eye catching yachts, sensational sailing, wind & kite surfing championships, Street markets, live music and firework displays.Extensive trading links with Newfoundland were developed in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries that helped Poole to prosper.
