The Hartford center point is about the area of Old State House and the area of XL Center.
Although its a small city, there are quite a few good stops. If you're looking for nightlife there are plenty of top notch restaurants and wine bars to walk to. Along with theaters, my favorite being Theater Works is a little gem. To pass time during the day tour the Mark Twain and Harriet Beecher Stowe houses followed by a walk and lunch in Elizabeth Park. You will not be disappointed during rose blooming season.
Hartford has four distinct seasons. During the summer, the weather is pleasant and the average highs are in the mid-80s. Spring and fall are cool but pleasant with temperatures that range from the upper 50s to the mid-60s. Winter brings cold and snow, and temperatures usually don't get out of the 30s.
While Hartford attracts visitors throughout the year, summer and early fall are definitely the busiest times for travelers. From May to August, people pack the city to explore the outdoor attractions and enjoy the warm weather. In September and November, the changing leaves bring plenty of visitors to the area to enjoy the beautiful colors. During these months, hotels and attractions charge higher prices due to the demand.

Around the corner from the hotel was an Irish pub. The food was very good. A real cute place.
Excellent restaurant next to the hotel. Nice walk to Bushnell Party with my dog and I felt very safe.
The Capital Park. Downtown restaurants.
I did not have a lot of free time to explore but I liked the big park across from the hotel and the old red brick Hartford buildings. I found people to be very friendly.

I was born and raised in Hartford. I used to sled down the hill in front of the State Capitol. Our room faced the Capitol so that was a real treat!
It was walkable to all attractions with many rich, architectural surprises. The Wadsworth Atheneum was sheer delight with bright well spaced exhibits and knowledgeable and welcoming guides.
The ease with witch I got transportation.
I am originally from East Hartford. I found the city has really changed! It's beautiful water park. The easy access to the Science Museum and cultural activities. I was visiting a family member in the Hartford Hospital while staying. The Best Western was only 3 miles away. The Hospital and their staff are tops! Staying at the Best Western was a great relief after a very emotional day. If you can't be at home, the Best Western is a wonderful alternative!
The room was clean, comfortable. The staff was friendly. Easy to get to the hotel from the highway.
I only left the hotel to go to UConn for the NCAA tournament. The weather did not allow for checking out the area.
Can't wait to go to the Schubert Theater. Park next to the hotel was an enjoyable walk.
