The port features several attractions for visitors as well. Stationed in the port is the U.S.S. Midway, a retired aircraft carrier that has been converted into a museum. One of the few remaining WWII aircraft carriers, visitors are offered a rare opportunity to explore a piece of American naval history and legend. Daily tours are offered of the Port and surrounding waters via Hornblower Tours and leave from the northern end of the bay. Just off of the port is the San Diego Convention Center which plays host to a number of different events and major conventions. The highlight of these conventions is the yearly Comic-Con, a massive multi-day event occurring each summer that features the newest announcements and exhibits from today's comics, movies, and television programs. The Port of San Diego serves as the starting point for several cruise ship companies and features several cruise options to Mexico and beyond.
