Athens is the capital and is also the largest city of Greece, with a population of about 789,000 people. It's surrounded by magnificent mountains, including the Ymmytos, Pendeli and Parnitha. This city is filled with history, as it was the birthplace of democracy and is home to the most famous archaeological monument in Europe - the Acropolis. Athens has been around for approximately 3,400 years, making it one of the oldest cities.
Not only does Athens look beautiful, but it feels just as beautiful too. The winters are mild, with the average temperature being about 55 degrees Fahrenheit. The summers are hot, with an average temperature of 80 degrees, making the pristine beaches a top tourist attraction.
