The Inside Scoop by our Local Expert
The Palace of Fine Arts is nestled in the heart of San Francisco's Marina District in California. It is a very large and ornate structure that was initially constructed to provide for the community's 1915 Panama-Pacific Exposition to exhibit fine arts. In 1965, the Palace of Fine Arts began to undergo an extensive renovation project. The seismic retrofit, walkway and even the lagoon were included in this project. It wasn't until the year of 2009 that the structure's renovation was finally completed in its entirety. The beauty was so inspiring to people who saw the palace that even Disney's California Adventure park modeled a palace attraction after it in Anaheim, California. Today, the palace serves as a major attraction for both local residents and the tourist industry. Many people come to the Palace of Fine Arts to hold wedding ceremonies, event gatherings and more. It is California's most famous palace.
