Welcome to Zurich
Zurich - Switzerland's biggest metropolis - is home to 1.2 million people and is one of the world's biggest tourist destinations. Visitors come to explore the rich culture of the city, from its French and German architecture to its lush nature marked by its Swiss Alps skyline. But it's also a popular place for businesspeople - Zurich is, after all, the country's hub for finance, home to a multitude of major international corporations and the headquarters of the Swiss stock exchange. This also means that many visitors arrive with a hefty expense account, and travel companies often cater to wealthy executives. In effect, it can be a very pricey city to visit, whether you're here for leisure or business.
When visitors are ready to explore the attractions of Zurich, they can get to downtown via the efficient and reliable public transit system. Board a train just outside of the airport and get to the city center within 12 minutes. Tourists who expect to use the transit system often should take advantage of the ZurichCARD option, which covers your fare for either 24 or 72 hours for one flat rate and includes the systems trains, buses, trams, cable cars and boats.
