The San Angelo center is around the area of Shannon Medical Center and the area of Southwest Military Museum.
Texas weather proves notoriously unpredictable, but you can always count on sweltering temperatures during the summer. San Angelo isn't quite as humid as Houston, San Antonio, or Austin, but you will still sweat while you explore the great outdoors. Plus, you'll pay more for lodging thanks to the influx of tourists with kids in tow.
For the most enjoyable experience, book your hotel room for winter or fall. You won't see as much rainfall during this time of year, and the temperatures stay reasonably warm during the day. From December through February, temperatures can dip below freezing, so you should bring lots of layers. November usually stays fairly warm.
If you're shopping for discounts on hotels in San Angelo, you won't be disappointed. For instance, you can get discounts on rooms at the Hampton Inn San Angelo or the Days Inn San Angelo if you're a member of AAA. Just give the front desk clerk your membership identification card when you check in.
Alternatively, if you're a senior citizen, consider staying at the Motel 6 or the Home2 Suites by Hilton San Angelo. These venues will knock up to 10 percent off your hotel room bill if you're over age 55. You can also get discounts if you book your rooms well in advance at many establishments or if you work for the government or have served in the U.S. military.
Sometimes, you don't want to spend too much money on lodging during vacation, but neither do you want to give up the amenities that make such a trip extra special. Fortunately, San Angelo offers several options to help your keep spending under control without sacrificing quality.
You might want to stay at the Hampton Inn San Angelo, for instance, which features excellent nightly rates as well as high-end amenities. The spacious indoor pool and spa allow you to indulge no matter the season, which is rare in Texas, and there's an on-site convenience store and pantry if you need to stock up on road trip snacks or other refreshments. The small business center includes computer terminals, printers, and other equipment, and you'll get a free continental breakfast every morning to start your day on the right foot.
Rooms at the Hampton Inn San Angelo feature plain white bedding that contrasts nicely against dark wood headboards. Reading lamps, workstations, flat-screen televisions, and easy chairs make getting settled easy. Each room comes with a lap desk for eating a meal in bed or working on your laptop in comfort. There's also an iPod docking station, a telephone, and an ergonomic desk chair to make you as comfortable as possible. Plus, you'll have an ice machine and vending machine on every floor.
San Angelo might seem like it sits in the middle of nowhere, but there are a few places you can visit after spending just a couple of hours in the car. Midland, Texas, for instance, is less than two hours away. It's a larger city with a more vibrant nightlife and far more shopping opportunities. You'll find several tourist attractions here, including the CAF Airpower Museum, the Security Bank Ballpark, and the Summer Mummers Theater.
Odessa is likewise close to San Angelo. You won't want to miss the magnificent Stonehenge Replica or the riveting Comanche Trail Park. Odessa is known for its plentiful green spaces, so visit this city if you feel like hiking, biking, fishing, or playing a game of Ultimate Frisbee in the park.
There's no reason to delay your next vacation in San Angelo. While it's not as popular as some of the larger Texas cities, it's an ideal destination if you're looking for peace and quiet — and perhaps the occasional night on the town. Just choose a hotel from the ones recommended above and book your reservations today — the Lone Star State awaits.

The soccer tournament was well organized and the staff there was great too.
We had to stay with our friends we came here to see. The city itself wasn't really exciting, sort of old and run down feeling, rusty. I will say however the Twin Mountain Steak House was really scrumptious. I recommend the smoked prime on Fridays and Saturdays only.
